Cátia Moreso

Revered by critics as "priceless" and for her "refined and darker register, as well as for her ability to reach high and resonant notes” the Spanish mezzo-soprano CátiaMoreso has as her future plans for 2016/17 Jocasta in Oedipus Rex, Te Deum by Marcos Portugal with the Coro do TeatroNacional de São Carlos and Elijah by Mendelssohn in London.
Cátia Moreso studied at the ConservatórioNacional de Lisboa and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she obtained a degree in singing and the Master degree in Opera. Having been awarded a scholarship by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Lionel Anthony Charitable Trust, she studied at the National Opera Studio under Susan Waters. She won the 2nd Singing Contest of The Rotary Foundation of Portugal, the Bocage Prize in the Concurso Luísa Todi, as well as the 1st Prize in the Singing Contest José Augusto Alegria. In 2013 she won the Prix Aria friends bursary in the Wexford Opera Festival.
